12 US Bars and Restaurants Face Song Licensing Suit

Music licensing organization BMI is suing 12 bars and restaurants around the US claiming that they played copyrighted music without paying the required licensing fees. The cities the establishments are located in include New York, Chapel Hill, and Rochester, Minnesota. By law, BMI is entitled to receive up to $150,000 in damages for each song played on the jukebox or by a DJ without the proper license being paid.
