Mississippi Supreme Court to Rule on Manslaughter Charges for Pregnant Drug Users

The Supreme Court of Mississippi is currently deciding a case that could lead to women being charged with manslaughter if they use drugs while pregnant resulting in a miscarriage or stillbirth. A woman has been charged when, after 31 weeks into a pregnancy, she delivered a daughter who was stillborn. Drug tests determined that the woman had levels of methamphetamine in her system whereby prosecutors ruled she deliberately killed her daughter.
