IRS Posts Thousands of Social Security Numbers on Website

The Internal Revenue Service apparently posted the Social Security numbers of approximately 100,000 US citizens on their website. The Social Security numbers appeared to belong to donors as well as tax preparers. The IRS shut down the website after Public.Resource.org found the listing of numbers and alerted the agency. A message on the web page asks visitors to check back at a later date. The error occurred on the IRS 527 homepage.
